CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -The Virginia softball team (22-29, 5-14 ACC) concludes the regular season with a doubleheader Tuesday at Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. The twin bill is a make-up from a rainout on March 30. First pitch is set for 2 p.m., while the second game is slated for 4 p.m. Live statistics for both games will be linked on VirginiaSports.com.

The Cavaliers are coming off a series loss at NC State, two games to one, but claimed the final contest of the series in a 1-0 victory on Sunday.

Freshman Stephanie Harris continues to lead UVa offensively, posting a .324 average with nine doubles and 26 RBI, which trails classmate Marcy Bowdren’s team-best 27 RBI. Junior Giannina Cipolloni contributes a .303 average and paces the conference with 31 stolen bases.

Pitcher Melanie Mitchell had a solid weekend, allowing only one earned run in 14 innings of work vs. NC State. She struck out nine batters in those two games combined, bumping her season total to 234, with a 3.40 ERA.

Liberty is 23-24 on the year and is also coming off a series defeat to Big South Conference foe Presbyterian, two games to one, over the weekend.

Junior Kelly Strickland leads the Flames with a .362 average and a team-best 15 home runs and 44 RBI. Teammates Keely McMillon and Ashley Bensinger hit .358 and .348, respectively, while Bensinger is second with 35 RBI.

Sophomore Katrina Johnson is tops on the Liberty pitching staff, tossing 162 1/3 innings with 107 strikeouts and a 2.16 ERA.

Virginia leads the all-time series with Liberty, 37-17. Last year in Charlottesville, the two teams split a doubleheader; the Cavaliers took game one 4-0 before falling 6-4 in game two.
