CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia field hockey coach Michele Madison announced Monday that Jess Orrett has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Cavalier program in the fall of 2011. Orrett becomes the sixth member in the UVa field hockey class of 2015.

Orrett is a native of Wells in Somerset, England and has experience as a member of the English Under-16 and Under-18 national teams. She captained the Millifield School squad to national finalists finishes in both the indoor and outdoor leagues and was a first-team English National League selection while player for the Firebrands Hockey Club.

“We are very pleased to announce the commitment of Jess to the University of Virginia,” Madison said. “Jess was keen to find the best challenge involving both hockey and academics. She has prepared herself for the academics at UVa and has competed at a highest level internationally for her age group. Jess has been exposed to the level of hockey we play at Virginia and she will help fortify the defensive unit as well add creative playmaking out of the defensive midfield.”

Orrett joins fellow signees Maddie DeCerbo, Jenny Johnstone, Kelsey LaBlanc, Rachel Sumfest and Jessica White.
