NCAA Recognizes Three Virginia Teams For APR Scores

CHARLOTTESVILLE-The NCAA has honored three of Virginia’s intercollegiate athletics teams with public recognition awards for their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate scores. The teams are baseball, women’s indoor track and field, and women’s outdoor track and field. The teams earned the awards by posting multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all teams in their respective sports. The NCAA honored more than 900 Division I teams for the achievement.

The public recognition awards are part of the NCAA’s academic performance program. The 909 teams recognized by the NCAA this year represent 239 of the 335 Division I colleges and universities.

The APR provides a real-time view of a team’s academic success by tracking the progress of each student-athlete during the school year. By measuring eligibility and retention each semester or quarter, the APR provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.

The list of teams recognized this year includes 525 women’s teams and 384 men’s or mixed squads.

Full APR scores for all Division I sports teams will be released later this spring.
