CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia head coach Joanne Boyle will attend the 2011 USA Basketball Women’s World University Games Team Trials and the U19 World Championship Team Trials, being held May 22-25 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. She is a current member of the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee.

The committee is chaired by Sue Donahoe, NCAA vice president for Division I women’s basketball. Boyle was named to the committee in 2009, a post she will hold until 2012.

Sixty-nine of the nation’s top high school and collegiate players have accepted invitations to attend the trials. Invitations were issued by Donahoe.

In addition to Boyle and Donohoe, other members of the Junior National Team Committee are Coquese Washington (Penn State head coach), Connie Yori (Nebraska head coach) and athlete representative Beth Cunningham (1999 USA Pan American Games Team member).

Iowa State University’s Bill Fennelly has been tabbed head coach of the 2011 USA World University Games Team, while Suzie McConnell-Serio of Duquesne University and Terri Williams-Flournoy of Georgetown University will serve as assistant coaches.

The USA U19 World Championship Team will be led by the University of Hartford’s Jennifer Rizzotti, with assistant coaches Sue Semrau of Florida State University and Joi Williams of the University of Central Florida.

The committee is Boyle’s most recent USA Basketball assignment. She was also an assistant coach for the 2006 USA U20 National Team that compiled a 5-0 record en route to the gold medal at the 2006 FIBA Americas U20 Championship (qualifying tournament for the 2007 FIBA U21 World Championship), involving teams from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean.
