To All Virginia Baseball Fans:

The Virginia athletics department apologizes to the baseball fans who experienced difficulty parking for Saturday night’s Virginia-St. John’s NCAA baseball regional game.

The athletics department was aware three high school graduations were scheduled to take place at John Paul Jones Arena in advance of the University’s selection as an NCAA baseball regional host. Department staff and arena management developed a plan to open available parking in the John Paul Jones Arena lots for baseball fans starting at 4:30 p.m. once the final graduation of the day had started. Unfortunately, the graduation crowd arrived very late. As a result, the ceremony was delayed one hour and started at 5:30 p.m. This ceremony also drew many more cars than in years past and parking was not available in the arena lots for baseball fans.

Fans planning to attend Sunday’s NCAA baseball regional games should be aware that WWE Raw will take place at John Paul Jones Arena starting at 5 p.m. and the John Paul Jones Arena parking lots will not be available for baseball fans. A total of 679 baseball regional parking passes were pre-sold for the weekend out of a possible 1,100 spaces in the University Hall and McCue Center parking lots. Parking spaces will be held on Sunday for fans that purchased parking in advance until first pitch of the second game, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. There will be a $5 charge for baseball fans to park in the remaining spaces in the University Hall and McCue Center parking lots on Sunday. Free parking is available for baseball fans at the Emmet-Ivy Garage.

East Carolina and St. John’s will meet at 1 p.m. at Davenport Field in game five of the Charlottesville Regional. Virginia will play the winner of game five at 6 p.m. for the regional championship. Fans are encouraged to check VirginiaSports.com for the latest Charlottesville Regional information.
