Atlanta, GA – Former Virginia women’s golfer Calle Nielson (Nashville, Tenn.) advanced to the finals of match play at the 96th annual Women’s Southern Golf Association Championships taking place in Atlanta. Current UVa women’s golfer Elizabeth Brightwell (Nellysford, Va.) was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Nielson downed Ket Preamchuen of Kennesaw State in her quarterfinal match 4 and 3 and then advanced to the finals with a 4 and 2 victory against Laura Wearn of Furman. Wearn eliminated Brightwell 1 up to reach the semifinals.

Nielson’s championship final is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. Friday. She will face Meagan Roberts from the University of Arkansas.
