Charlottesville, VA – Virginia golfers Ben Kohles (Sr., Cary, N.C.) and Brittany Altomare (Jr., Shrewsbury, Mass.) have been named to preseason watch and All-America lists by several national golf publications. Kohles, the two-time ACC Player of the Year and Altomare, a two-time All-American, were named preseason second-team All-Americans by Golfweek. Both players were also included in the “Top 50 Players to Watch” list by Golf World.

Freshman Denny McCarthy was tabbed by Golfweek as the No. 7 incoming freshman player this season.

The Cavalier women’s team is ranked No. 9 in Golfweek’s preseason rankings. Virginia is one of three ACC teams in the top 10 of the poll. North Carolina is listed No. 5 and Duke is in sixth place.

The Virginia men’s team is ranked No. 18 in Golfweek’s preseason poll. UVa is one of five ACC teams ranked in the top 20 by Golfweek. Georgia Tech is No. 4, Duke is No. 14, Clemson is No. 15 and Wake Forest is No. 19.

The Cavalier women start their season Sept. 23 at The Fall Preview in Nashville. The Virginia men open their season Sept. 26 at the VCU Shootout.
