CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Three first year members of the Virginia women’s swimming team – Alison Haulsee, Sarah White and Ellen Williamson – were all named to the 2011-12 United States National Junior Team, as announced by USA Swimming.

Haulsee, a native of Glen Allen, Va., earned a spot on the team in the 100-meter and 200-meter butterfly events. White (Norfolk, Va.) was named to the squad in the 200-meter individual medley and Williamson (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) in the 100-meter backstroke.

“As a program, we are awfully excited to have three of our young student-athletes recognized with such distinction,” Virginia head coach Mark Bernardino said. “In the recruiting process, we realized we were talking with three people who had the special mental and physical qualities it takes to compete at high levels. It’s exciting for us to know we are identifying this kind of talent and successfully recruiting this kind of talent. It is now our responsibility to help them grow and move forward.”

The top six athletes 18 and under in Olympic events from the 2011 ConocoPhillips National Championships and 2011 Speedo Junior National Championships qualified for the 2011-2012 National Junior Team.
