Nashville, TN – The seventh-ranked Virginia women’s golf team started its season Friday at the Mason Rudolph Fall Preview in Nashville, Tenn. The Cavaliers shot 16-over 304 to complete the opening round tied for 12th place. All 18 teams in the field are ranked in the current Golfweek top-25 poll including the top 13 teams in the nation.

Virginia shot 16-over 304 and is 12 strokes behind tournament leading Southern California. The Trojans hold a one shot advantage over Arizona State.

The Cavaliers were led by sophomore Portland Rosen who shot 2-over 74 and is in 17th place. Junior Brittany Altomare is 27th at 75, Elizabeth Brightwell is 50th at 77 and Nicole Agnello was 60th at 78. Lauren Greenlief finished the opening round in 90th place after shooting 84.

Arizona State’s Justine Lee leads the field at 1-under 71. Seven players are tied behind her at even par.

The second round of the tournament takes place Saturday and the final round is slated for Sunday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
