CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia baseball team starts its annual Orange & Blue World Series at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Head coach Brian O’Connor unveiled the rosters Friday for each team for the intrasquad competition.

Virginia also will play Georgetown at 1 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 2) in an exhibition game.

Admission is free for each game in the Orange and Blue World Series as well as the Georgetown exhibition. Fans should enter on the first baseline side of the stadium via Lannigan Way. Free parking will be available in the University Hall and John Paul Jones Arena lots. Concession and merchandise stands will be open for all fall games.

Prior to Game 4 of the series on Oct. 14, Virginia will hold a ceremony to celebrate the 2011 team. UVa will issue the team’s ACC Championship and College World Series rings at this time.

The Orange and Blue World Series will consist of a pair of two-game series as well as a Game 5. If a given team wins both games of either series, the other set of games automatically becomes a series that is based on run differential, provided it’s a split series, to allow the trailing team to still win a series.

Each team is encouraged to score as many runs as possible and not worry about running the score up. All pitchers are required to appear at least one time in games 2-4.

Pitch counts will be in effect for all pitchers. In Game 1, no pitcher may pitch more than five innings or 75 pitches. In games 2-4, no pitcher may toss more than five innings or 90 pitches. In Game 5, all pitchers are eligible to play, but five-inning and 90-pitch limits apply.

The Cavaliers return 20 letterwinners from the 2011 squad which won a school-record 56 games, earned the ACC Championship and advanced to the program’s second College World Series in three years. Ten highly-touted freshmen and three junior-college transfers also enter the mix.

Tuesday, Oct. 4, 6 p.m.
