LOS ANGELES -Maria Fuccillo (Rockville, Md.) advanced to the qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships with her third win in pre-qualifying on Sunday at the LA Tennis Center. She gives the Cavaliers four players in the qualifying draw, which begins Monday.

Fuccillo topped Hanna Mar of Duke in the final round of pre-qualifying, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. The win over the No. 104-ranked Mar was Fuccillo’s second ranked win of the tournament. Li Xi (Kunming, China) lost her match Sunday in the final round of pre-qualifying, falling to Zoe Scandalis of USC 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 in a match that lasted almost four hours.

“It was a great result for Maria,” said head coach Mark Guilbeau. “It was a testament to her fitness. She was as strong physically and mentally at the end as she was at the start of the match. Both Maria and Chili fought extremely hard today and throughout the weekend. They were both very professional in their approach to these matches and set a great tone for the rest of the team. They should both be very proud of their effort and performance.”

Fuccillo is one of four Cavaliers in the qualifying draw. Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.), Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton Fla.) and Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) were selected to the qualifying draw based on their ranking. Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) was selected to the main draw.
