CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The Virginia volleyball team hosts two ACC rivals this weekend at Memorial Gymnasium. The Cavaliers welcome Wake Forest on Friday (Oct. 7) at 7 p.m., followed by Duke the next night (Oct. 8) at 7 p.m.

Saturday’s match with Duke will be streamed live online at VirginiaSports.com as part of Cavaliers Live, UVa’s live audio and video streaming offering. Live statistics also will be available for both matches at VirginiaSports.com.

Single-match general admission tickets are $5. Youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission tickets are $4 and group tickets (20 or more) are $3 per ticket. Fans can order tickets online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821). Tickets are also available at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of each match.

Game-day parking for volleyball matches is available free of charge at the Culbreth Road Garage, located behind Carr’s Hill Field. Limited parking is available at the Central Grounds Garage (hourly rates apply).

Virginia (6-9, 0-5 ACC) is looking to snap a six-match losing streak after falling at Maryland, 3-2, and Boston College, 3-1, last weekend.

Senior outside hitter Simone Asque (Chicago, Ill.) continues to lead the ‘Hoos offensively, averaging 3.64 kills per set. That average ranks her third in the ACC. She also leads the team in service aces (14).

Junior middle blocker Jessica O’Shoney (Austin, Texas) is second on the team with 2.89 kills per set and her .361 hitting percentage ranks fifth in the league and 41st in the nation. She leads the team with 0.92 blocks per set and has a team-best 49 total blocks on the season.

Junior setter Beth Wildermuth (San Clemente, Calif.) ranks fifth in the ACC by averaging 10.32 assists per game, while sophomore libero Emily Rottman (Santa Barbara, Calif.) leads the team and ranks seventh in the conference by averaging 4.13 digs per set.

Wake Forest is 4-10 on the season and 1-4 in conference play. UVa leads the all-time series, 21-18, and won the last match-up, 3-0, on Nov. 19, 2010, in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Kadija Fornah leads the Demon Deacons and ranks sixth in the ACC with 3.22 kills per set, while Carlin Salmon is sixth in the conference with 1.12 blocks per set.

Duke, the 2010 ACC Champion, is currently 8-6 on the year and 2-3 in conference action. The Blue Devils lead the all-time series, 42-13, and triumphed over the ‘Hoos, 3-0, in the last meeting on Nov. 20, 2010, in Durham, N.C.

Ali McCurdy leads the Blue Devils and the ACC with 5.28 digs per set, while Kellie Catanach is third in the conference with 10.98 assists per set.

After this weekend, the Cavaliers continue conference play on Oct. 14 and 15 with matches at North Carolina and NC State.
