TULSA, Okla. – Virginia first-year Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) reached the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships on Friday at the University of Tulsa. Frank, the top-ranked freshman in the nation, downed fourth-seeded Chase Buchanan of Ohio State 6-4, 6-1.

Frank is the second Cavalier freshman in as many years to reach the quarterfinals of the event. Last year, Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) won the singles championship. Frank will play sixth-seeded Dennis Nevolo of Illinois in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) lost his round of 16 match on Friday, falling to Remi Boutillier of Fresno State, 5-7, 7-6(5), 7-5. Jenkins, who had a pair of match points in the contest, rallied from down 4-0 in the third set to take a 5-4 lead before the Bulldog won the final three games for the win.

The tournament continues Saturday with the quarterfinals and semifinals. The final is scheduled for Sunday.
