TULSA, Okla. – The Virginia men’s tennis team had two players advance to the round of 16 in singles as main draw play began Thursday at the ITA All-American Championships. Junior Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) and first-year Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) both recorded a pair of straight-set wins to advance.

Jenkins posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Alex Musialek of Kentucky in the opening round, before taking out top-seeded Blaz Rola of Ohio State 6-3, 6-1 in the second round. He will play Remi Boutillier of Fresno State in the round of 16.

Frank, who received a wild card into the main draw as the nation’s top-ranked freshman, cruised past Brennan Boyajian of North Carolina in the first round, 6-0, 6-1. In the second round, he scored a 7-5, 6-2 win over Chris Mengel of Duke. Frank will play fourth-seeded Chase Buchanan of Ohio State in the round of 16.

The tournament continues Friday and runs through Sunday at the University of Tulsa.
