Chapel Hill, NC – The second-ranked Virginia women’s golf team shot 9-over 297 to open play Friday at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. at Finley Golf Course. The Cavaliers are in 13th place after the first round. Alabama, ranked No. 8, leads the field at 7-under 281.

Virginia was led by junior Nicole Agnello’s even par round of 72. She is tied for 16th place. Junior Brittany Altomare and sophomore Portland Rosen posted scores of 2-over 74 and are tied for 43rd. Elizabeth Brightwell shot 77 and is in 64th place while Lauren Greenlief completed the day at 78 and is in 78th place.

South Carolina’s Katie Burnett, LSU’s Madelene Sagstrom and Wake Forest’s Cheyenne Woods are tied for first at 4-under 68.

The second round of the tournament takes place Saturday and the final round is slated for Sunday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
