CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The Virginia cross country teams continue to prepare for the ACC Championships Friday as they host the third Panorama Farms Invitational. The men’s 8K race will start at 4:00 p.m., while the women’s 6K run will begin at 4:45 p.m.

Eleven additional schools will be competing Friday, including Duke, East Carolina, Georgetown, Liberty, Norfolk State, UNC Greensboro, Kentucky, North Florida, Richmond, South Florida and VCU.

The Cavalier women, ranked 16th in the nation by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), finished fifth at the Paul Short Run in their last time out on Sept. 30. Senior Morgane Gay (Bethesda, Md.) crossed the line first for the ‘Hoos in a 6K time of 20:55.

Senior Mark Amirault (Walpole, Mass.) placed 12th overall in an 8K time of 24:29 for the Virginia men, who finished 10th at the Paul Short Run. The men are ranked sixth in the South East Region by the USTFCCCA.

Former Virginia star Emil Heineking holds the men’s 8,000m course record in 23:16.1, while Sheila Reid of Villanova holds the 6K Panorama Farms record in 20:13.4.
