Charlottesville, VA – The seventh-ranked Virginia men’s golf team plays its second tournament this fall when the Cavaliers travel to Jonesborough, Tenn., for the 14th annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at Blackthorn Club. UVa will be defending its title after finishing first last season by four shots ahead of Kent State.

The event takes place Friday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 16. A field of 15 teams will compete at the par 72, 7,147-yard Blackthorn Club at The Ridges.

This year’s field consists of Army, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Kent State, Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, NC State, Tennessee, Toledo, UNC Wilmington, Villanova, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Virginia’s lineup includes seniors Ben Kohles and Bruce Woodall, junior Mac McLaughlin, sophomore Ben Rusch and freshman Denny McCarthy. Junior Cory Siegfried will compete as an individual.

The Cavaliers are coming off a season-opening victory at the VCU Shootout. Virginia posted a three-day score of 27-under 837 to set a school tournament scoring record. Kohles and McCarthy tied for fourth place at 8-under 208 while Woodall and McLaughlin tied for 11th.

Last season Rusch was UVa’s top finisher at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, tying for second at 6-under 210.
