Women's Tennis Continues Play at Bulldog Tennis Classic

ATHENS, Ga. – The Virginia women’s tennis team continued play Saturday at the Bulldog Tennis Classic at the Dan Magill Tennis Center, site of this year’s NCAA Championships. The Cavaliers won five singles matches and three doubles matches during the second day of the four-team, round-robin event.
In singles, Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.), ranked No. 36 nationally, defeated No. 43 Nadja Gilchrist of Georgia 6-1, 6-3. No. 72 Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton. Fla.) topped No. 123 Lilly Kimbell of Georgia 6-3, 6-2. Caryssa Peretz (Cherry Hill, N.J.), Marjorie Baker (Washington, D.C.) and Maria Fuccillo (Rockville, Md.) also posted singles wins.
In doubles, the Cavaliers had two ranked wins on the day. Ninth-ranked Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) downed No. 17 Emina Bektas and Brooke Bolender of Michigan, 8-6. Fuccillo and Li Xi (Kunming, China) won a pair of matches, including a 9-7 upset of No. 20 Kate Fuller and Lauren Herring of Georgia.
The tournament concludes on Sunday.
