Jonesborough, TN – The seventh-ranked Virginia men’s golf team closed the gap to just three shots behind tournament leading NC State following the second round of play at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate @ Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough, Tenn. Virginia shot 3-over 291 Saturday for a two-day total of 10-over 586. The Wolfpack leads the field at 583 after owning an eight-shot advantage following the opening round.

Virginia was led Saturday by Ben Kohles 2-under 70. He moved up to a tie with teammate Bruce Woodall for 21st place on the leaderboard at 5-over 149. Woodall carded a 76 Saturday.

Freshman Denny McCarthy continues to lead the Cavaliers. He is in a tie for third place after two rounds at 1-under 143. He shot 72 Saturday. Mac McLaughlin is in 54th place at 155. He shot 73 during the second round. Cory Siegfried, playing as an individual is in 65th place at 159.

UVa’s Ben Rusch was not able to count his second round score of 74 toward the team total after being disqualified after signing the wrong score card.

NC State’s Mark McMillen leads the field at 4-under 140.
