CHARLOTTESVILLE — The Virginia men’s tennis team had three singles players and three doubles teams advance to the round of 16 during Saturday’s play at the ITA Atlantic Regional at the Snyder Tennis Center.

Top-seeded Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) advanced with a pair of straight set wins. Jenkins is looking to win the regional singles title for the third consecutive year. Julen Uriguen (Guatemala City, Guatemala), the No. 5 seed, rallied from down a set to win in three sets in his round of 64 match before losing just one game in his round of 32 match. Sixth-seeded Justin Shane (Falls Church, Va.) won both of his matches in straight sets.

In doubles, three teams won their round of 32 matches to advance. Third-seeded Drew Courtney (Clifton. Va.) and Uriguen, fourth-seeded Jenkins and Micthell Frank (Annandale, Va.) and seventh-seeded Philippe Oudshoorn (Apeldoorn, The Netherlands) and Steven Rooda (Amersfoort, The Netherlands) were victorious.

Sunday’s play begins at 10:30 a.m., and admission is free.
