CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Freshman goalkeeper Jenny Johnstone (Paisley, Scotland) has been tabbed the ACC Co-Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Johnstone shares the award with North Carolina’s Caitlin Van Sickle.

Johnstone had a career outing in Virginia’s 3-2 win over Duke last Saturday in penalty strokes. She posted a personal-best tally of 14 saves, the most by any ACC goalkeeper this season. She also was the winning goalkeeper in the stroke-off, which the Cavaliers won 4-3 to earn their first conference win of the season.

It is the first career award for Johnstone and the first weekly award of the season for Virginia. The last Cavalier to earn an ACC Player of the Week honor was Tara Puffenberger on Sept. 14, 2010.

Sixth-seeded Virginia (8-11, 1-4 ACC) will face third-seeded Duke (11-6, 2-3 ACC) for the second time in five days Thursday in the first round of the ACC Championship. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be webcasted on www.theACC.com from College Park, Md.
