Frank Cruises in ITA National Indoor Opener

FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. — Virginia first-year Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.), the top seed at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, opened play on Thursday with an impressive first round win.

Frank downed Daniel Nguyen of USC 6-2, 6-1 in the round of 32 on Thursday. He plays Alex Musialek of Kentucky in the round of 16 on Friday.

Also on Thursday, Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) fell in the second round of the Virginia National Bank Men’s Pro Tennis Championship, a ATP Challenger Tour event at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. He fell in the round of 16 to world No. 120 Bobby Reynolds 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.
