CHARLOTTESVILLE – After leading Virginia to its fourth-consecutive victory, a 69-64 overtime victory over No. 3 Tennessee, senior forward Chelsea Shine (Wayne, Pa.) has been named the ACC Player of the Week.

Shine keyed the Cavaliers’ upset of No. 3 Tennessee with an 18‐point, nine‐rebound performance, including a key bucket in overtime. The senior from Wayne, Pa., went 7-for‐15 from the field for the game and scored three points and grabbed three rebounds in the decisive overtime period.

The UVa senior class of Shine and Ariana Moorer has been part of two upsets of Tennessee when the Lady Vols have been ranked in the top five (2008 and 2011).

Shine averaged 8.7 rebounds per game through the Cavaliers’ three wins on the week and just missed double‐doubles with eight points and 10 boards at Providence and 18 points and nine rebounds vs. Tennessee.

It is the first weekly ACC honor of Shine’s career.

Virginia (4-0) is off to its best start since the 1997-98 season (6-0) and made its first appearance in the Associated Press top 25 since 2010 on Nov. 21, coming in at No. 22.

The Cavaliers travel to Honolulu, Hawaii, this week where they will face No. 24 Texas, Hawaii and California.
