Virginia Tech Player Quotes

Redshirt Sophomore Quarterback Logan Thomas

On the win:

“They are a good team and very strong, but I think we just played our best ball today.”

On the attention Virginia received before the game:

“The guys definitely took it as a slap in the face. We’ve been a part of this rivalry for the past couple of years. Nobody was really talking about us. They were all talking about Virginia and how good Virginia was going to play. We took it as a slap in the face and wanted to go play hard.”

On the Lynchburg quarterbacks:

“I just wanted to go out there and play as hard and best as I could. They have been talking all week about us. Rocco is a great player and think we will both progress as our careers go on. Best of luck to him as well.”

On the Coastal Division Championship

“I’m extremely excited. I don’t just want a Coastal Division championship. I want an ACC championship as well. I get a shot at who we loss to earlier this year and I’m looking forward to it.”

On the upcoming rematch against Clemson:

“Nobody was really talking it, but everybody wants it. We didn’t play our best ball that day, and hopefully we can get them this time.”

Junior Tailback David Wilson

On executing the plays:

“We came out here to handle business, and the way we executed today was awesome. I think we were clicking on the field. We were executing to the dime. Holding them to zero and us rushing over 100 yards, no running back has done that this season. That was a great accomplishment for us.”

On playing with a chip on their shoulders:

“We have televisions in our locker room and we see what people say. ESPN was doubting us, saying we should not be in the top five, but the way the score went today gave a lot of those guys a wake up call.”

Redshirt Sophomore Linebacker Jack Tyler

On being a part of this victory:

“It’s great, and I love that I have the opportunity to play at such a high level. It goes back to Coach Foster. He can throw anybody into my position and they can do well. You just do what he tells you, and he is right 100 percent of the time.”

Redshirt Junior Receiver Marcus Davis

On the win:

“It’s big. To be able to put 38 points up is big. The win itself is big. Writers and reporters have been doubting us all week. We don’t pay any attention to that. We just go out there and play our game.”

On playing well:

“Our coach has been preaching to us all week that we need to go out there and face a challenge. He gave us a challenge. I just took that and tried to win my individual battles. There was good play calling, and they just put me in the right situations.”
