CHARLOTTESVILLE – Undefeated at home this season and winner of its last two contests, Virginia hosts Liberty on Wednesday (Dec. 7) at John Paul Jones Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast over the airwaves on WINA 1070 AM in the Charlottesville area. That broadcast, along with live statistics, can be accessed at VirginiaSports.com.

Virginia (7-2) is coming off two-consecutive wins, 65-49 vs. Indiana on Thursday (Dec. 1) and 69-56 at Richmond on Sunday (Dec. 4). Following Wednesday’s contest, Virginia will take an 11-day break from competition for final exams.

Senior guard Ariana Moorer (Woodbridge, Va.) continues to lead the ‘Hoos in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game. Moorer is also tied for the team-high in steals (19, 2.1 per game) and ranks second on the team with 6.1 rebounds per game.

Senior forward Chelsea Shine (Wayne, Pa.) averages 9.9 points per game and leads the team by averaging 6.8 rebounds per game. Sophomore Ataira Franklin (Bowie, Md.) averages 10.1 points per game and has hit a team-high 12 3-pointers this season.

Liberty is 3-4 on the season and is coming off a 62-58 loss to James Madison on Dec. 1. Devon Brown leads three Lady Flames that average in double figures for scoring (15.2 ppg), followed by Avery Warley (11.4 ppg, 10.7 rpg) and LaKendra Washington (10.0 ppg).

Liberty head coach Carey Green is in his 13th season and has compiled a 289-98 record.

Virginia leads the all-time series with Liberty, 7-2, including a 6-1 mark in Charlottesville. In the last four games, however, Virginia is 2-2 against the Flames. The teams last met in the 2009 Marriott Cavalier Classic at JPJA, with UVa earning a 63-54 victory. Prior to that, Liberty won at JPJA on Nov. 20, 2006 (75-71).

Following Wednesday’s game, Virginia returns to the hardwood on Dec. 18 vs. Radford. Tip-off for that Sunday match-up is scheduled for 2 p.m.
