CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Three members of the Virginia field hockey team were honored Monday on all-state teams as selected by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). Sophomore Elly Buckley was a consensus selection to the first team, while senior Rachel Jennings and junior Britt Knouse were honored on the second team.

Buckley (Perth, Australia), a second team All-American and first team all-region selection, paced the Virginia offense with a team-best 17 goals and nine assists for 43 points. She also led the Cavaliers with 67 shots while serving as a team co-captain. Buckley was named to both the 2011 All-ACC and ACC All-Tournament teams.

Jennings (Emmaus, Pa.) was named to the all-region second team this year. She started all 20 games for Virginia at defensive midfield and served as a team captain for the second consecutive year.

Knouse (Mount Joy, Pa.) had a breakout season, contributing eight goals and three assists for 19 points. Her mark of eight goals ranked second on the team behind Buckley, and two of those scores proved to be game-winners. She also recorded her first career hat trick in Virginia’s 8-1 win over UC Davis.

The Cavaliers finished the season with an 8-12 mark.
