CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.
– Virginia senior cornerback Chase Minnifield was named to his third All-America team on Tuesday when Phil Steele’s 2011 Postseason All-America team was released. Minnifield was named to the fourth team. The Lexington, Ky., native has also been named to the CBSSports.com (second team) and Yahoo! Sports’ (third team) All-America teams.

Phil Steele also placed Minnifield and nine other Cavaliers on his postseason All-ACC team. Minnifield, linebacker Steve Greer and offensive guard Austin Pasztor were named to the first team. Offensive tackle Oday Aboushi, wide receiver Kris Burd and defensive tackle Matt Conrath were named to the second team. Defensive end Cam Johnson, tailback Perry Jones, offensive tackle Morgan Moses and placekicker Robert Randolph were named to the third team.

Thus far this postseason Minnifield has been given the Pop Warner National College Football Award as their player of the year, named a first-team All-ACC pick for the second consecutive year and was awarded the Touchdown Club of Richmond’s accolade as its defensive back of the year. Minnifield is No. 2 nationally among active career leaders with 13 interceptions. He is a finalist for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award and a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award & Lott IMPACT Trophy. Minnifield was named the Thorpe Award Defensive Back of the Week (Oct. 17) after helping limit then-No. 12 Georgia Tech to 24 yards passing and its lowest rushing total at the time (272).

Phil Steele will release his freshman All-America team at a later date.
