CHARLOTTESVILLE – After an 11-day break from competition for final exams, Virginia hosts Radford on Sunday (Dec. 18) at John Paul Jones Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m., and the game will be broadcast over the airwaves on WINA 1070 AM in the Charlottesville area. Virginia (8-2) is coming off three-consecutive wins in the month of December – vs. Indiana, at Richmond and vs. Liberty. Radford represents Virginia’s third-consecutive in-state opponent, and after the ‘Hoos host James Madison on Tuesday (Dec. 20), the streak will be four.

Senior guard Ariana Moorer (Woodbridge, Va.) continues to lead the ‘Hoos in scoring, averaging 12.1 points per game. Moorer ranks second on the team with 5.5 rebounds per game.

Senior forward Chelsea Shine (Wayne, Pa.) averages 9.9 points per game and leads the team by averaging 6.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore Ataira Franklin (Bowie, Md.) averages 10.0 points per game and is tied for the team-high with 13 3-pointers made this season.

Radford is 6-3 on the season after defeating Norfolk State, 80-68, on Friday (Dec. 16). The Highlanders’ leading scorers are Da’Naria Erwin Spencer (19.2 points per game) and Ashley Buckhannon (13.7 points per game).

Radford head coach Tajama Abraham Ngongba is in her fourth season at RU and has compiled a career record of 36-59.

Virginia trails the all-time series with Radford, 6-7, but has won five-straight in the series that dates back to 1975.
