CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Three members of the Virginia volleyball team, Simone Asque, Jessica O’Shoney and Beth Wildermuth, were honored Monday (Dec. 19), by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). Asque was named to the all-state first team, while O’Shoney and Wildermuth were recognized on the second team.

Asque (Chicago, Ill.), a three-time first team selection, led the Cavaliers with 403 kills (3.60 kps) and was honored by COBRA Magazine’s All-East Region Team for the second straight year. She finished her Wahoo career with the fourth-most career kills (1,442) in school history.

O’Shoney (Austin, Texas), a first team selection a year ago, led UVa with 117 blocks (1.09 bps) and a .347 hitting percentage, which was the third-highest mark in school history and ranked 50th in the nation in 2011.

Wildermuth (San Clemente, Calif.) directed the ‘Hoo offense, dishing out 1,082 assists and now ranks sixth all-time at Virginia with 2,020 career assists. The 2010 and 2011 co-captain recorded 11 double-doubles.
