CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia senior defensive lineman Cam Johnson has accepted an invitation to play in the 2012 Senior Bowl. The contest will be held Jan. 28 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala., kicking off at 3 p.m. CST and televised live on the NFL Network. The NFL Network will also televise all practices.

“Cam is an intriguing prospect and we’re excited about watching him perform in front of the NFL’s leading decision makers here at the Senior Bowl,” Senior Bowl President and CEO Steve Hale said.

Johnson led the Cavaliers in sacks (4.0) and was second in tackles for loss (11.0) this season. He notched 30 tackles on the season to go along with one fumble recoveryand one pass breakup. In 34 career starts, Johnson totaled 130 tackles, including 33.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks.

The three-year starter also tallied three career fumble recoveries and seven career pass breakups.

This is the fourth-straight season a Cavalier will represent UVa in the Senior Bowl. In 2011 Danny Aiken and Ras-I Dowling were selected to play in the event. In 2010 Chris Cook and Rashawn Jackson participated in the showcase, while Cedric Peerman, John Phillips and Clint Sintim appeared in the 2009 game.
