CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – Virginia men’s divers Briggy Imbriglia and JB Kolod garnered 44 points at the ACC Championships over the weekend at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. Both men’s and women’s diving events were held in conjunction with the ACC Women’s Championships.

Imbriglia’s sixth-place finish in the 3-meter board Thursday highlighted the week for Virginia. He broke his own school record with a mark of 376.50 points in the finals. Meanwhile, Kolod, a freshman, placed 13th in his first event at the confernece meet.

On the 1-meter board, Kolod just missed a berth in the finals with a ninth-place performace (227.75) while Imbriglia was 12th overall (325.25).

Kolod went on to finish 10th on the platform (317.10) and Imbriglia, diving in his last ACC Championships, was 11th (309.45).

“The competeition was as strong as it’s ever been, so be able to score points on every board was huge,” Virginia diving coach Rich MacDonald said. “Our goal going into the meet was to score 40 points and we surpassed that, so I was very pleased. Briggy went out in style and JB really stepped up and gained some good experience.”

Both Kolod and Imbriglia quaifield for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships, slated for March 9-11 in Buffalo, N.Y.
