CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior attacker Ainsley Baker (Corning, N.Y.) was named the women’s lacrosse ACC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday (Feb. 21).

Baker helped lead the then-10th-ranked Cavaliers to a season-opening victory over No. 7 Loyola on Saturday (Feb. 18) with a career-high tying five goals.

With UVa holding a slim 6-5 lead at halftime, Baker scored three-straight goals to open the second half and essentially shut the door on the Greyhounds.

On the day, Baker connected for goals on five of her seven shots.

The honor is the second of Baker’s career – she was named ACC Player of the Week on March 15, 2010.

Maryland’s Iliana Sanza was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
