BOSTON-Freshman Christian Lavorgna (Sparta, N.J.) set four personal records on the first day of the heptathlon at the ACC Indoor Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track Center in Boston.

Lavorgna sits in eighth place with 2,454 points with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000 meters remaining on Friday.

“I think Christian obviously did a great job today,” assistant coach Michael Eskind said. “With the multi’s you’re competing against yourself just as much as you are against your competition and he did a good job of setting the tone for himself. He’s about 150 points ahead of where he’s been and is in a great position to score some points for the team.”

He started the day with a time of 7.51 in the 60 meters, before leaping 6.07m (19’11”) in the long jump. In his first throw of the shot put, Lavorgna hit a mark of 10.62m (34’10.25″) and concluded the day with a height of 1.79m (5’10.5″) in the high jump, placing sixth.

The ACC Championships continue Friday at 11 p.m. Live video will be available at theacc.com from 3:00 p.m., to 7:45 p.m., on Friday and noon-4:00 p.m., on Saturday.
