Tampa, FL – Virginia men’s golfer Ben Kohles won the fourth tournament in his career as the 25th-ranked Cavaliers cruised to a nine-shot victory at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate in Tampa, Fla. Virginia shot 5-over 293 during the final round to post a 54-hole total of 15-under 849. Auburn finished second at 858.

Kohles shot 3-over 75 Sunday to take medalist honors at 9-under 207, one shot off his best career score. Florida State’s Brook Koepka was second at 208. Kohles and Koepka shared ACC player of the year honors last season.

The win was Kohles’ fourth tournament championship and put him into a tie with Jeff Putman (1985-88) and Jimmy Flippen (1992-95) for the second most titles in UVa history. It was the 10th time during his career he has posted a top-10 finish.

Kohles was joined in the top 10 by teammates Will Collins and Amory Davis. Collins shot 71 Sunday to move up to fifth at 4-under 212. Davis posted a 74 in the final round and was eighth at 3-under 213. It was the seventh top-10 career finish for both players.

Freshman Ben Rusch placed 19th at 218 and Mac McLaughlin was 34th at 223 to round out UVa’s scoring. Cory Siegfried, playing as a non-scorer, was 51st at 230.
