CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s tennis team opens a five-match homestand on Friday as it hosts VCU. The match, originally scheduled to be played indoors at the Boar’s Head Sports Club, will now be played outdoors at the Snyder Tennis Center, beginning at 2 p.m.

The Cavaliers (9-2) moved up to a school-record No. 6 in this week’s ITA rankings. It tops the previous high of No. 8, set last season. Individually, Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) is No. 17 in this week’s ITA singles rankings, the highest ranking for a Cavalier since Alison Cohen had a No. 11 ranking in 1995. Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Li Xi (Kunming, China) are ranked No. 38 and No. 83 respectively in singles. In doubles, the team of Fraser and Xi is No. 11 nationally, while the team of Hardenbergh and Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) is No. 45 in the latest rankings.

VCU enters the match with a 9-3 overall record and a No. 42 national ranking.

Admission to all Virginia tennis home matches is free. Fans attending the match can park for free in the Culbreth Garage.
