GREENSBORO – For the second-consecutive season, Virginia junior forward Simone Egwu (Odenton, Md.) has been named to the All-ACC Women’s Basketball Academic Team, the conference announced on Thursday (March 1).

To be eligible for consideration for the academic squad, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during her academic career.

Egwu, a government major, has started every ACC game of her career (44) and this year has started 28 of the Cavaliers’ 30 contests. She is averaging 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for Virginia.

Egwu has posted two double-doubles this season vs. Wagner (Dec. 28) and at Clemson (Jan. 8).

This is her second All-ACC Women’s Basketball Academic Team recognition, as Egwu was named to the squad last season.

UVa is the No. 6 seed at the 2012 ACC Tournament and faces 11th-seeded Boston College Thursday (March 1) at 8 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C.
