CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia field hockey players Paige Selenski (Shavertown, Pa.) and Michelle Vittese (Cherry Hill, N.J.) both earned their 50th international caps in helping the United States national team win the Four Nations Tournament in Terassa, Spain.

Vittese earned her 50th cap in the first game of the tournament, in 3-3 draw with Belgium. Selenski reached the milestone in the next game, a 2-0 win against Belgium.

In the tournament, the Americans went 2-1-2. Team USA also beat No. 4 world ranked Great Britain, where Selenski tallied a goal and an assist, and tied Spain 0-0 in the tournament finale.

“The tour has been very successful and we were able to get good results against some very good teams,” national team coach Lee Bodimeade said. “We’re very pleased with the outcome of our decision to provide opportunities for younger players to perform in international competitions. We have another tour coming up in Australia and New Zealand that will give us another opportunity to progress our playing depth and level of performance.”

The U.S. will travel to Australia in early April and New Zealand the end of April to continue their preparations for the London Olympic Games this summer.
