UVa Women's Golfers Finish Sixth at LSU Classic

Baton Rouge, LA – The 29th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team suffered through its worst round of the weekend on Sunday and dropped back to a sixth-place finish at the LSU Golf Classic. After shooting 304 during the opening two rounds, the Cavaliers posted a final round tally of 317 for a 54-hole total of 925. Tennessee won the event at 880 while LSU was second at 882.

Briana Mao and Elizabeth Brightwell both shot 79 during the final round to lead UVa with 36th-place finishes. Both players completed play at 16-over 232. Brittany Altomare shot 80 during the final round and tied with teammate Lauren Greenlief for 44th place at 234. Greenlief shot 85 during the final round. Nicole Agnello was 53rd overall at 238, including a 79 Sunday. Kaira Martin, playing as a non-scoring individual, was also 53rd, including an 80 during the final round.

North Carolina’s Catherine O’Donnell and Tennessee’s Erica Popson shared medalist honors at 2-under 214.

The Cavaliers return to play March 30 at the Liz Murphey Classic in Athens, Ga.
