CHARLOTTESVILLE – The 10th-ranked Virginia women’s lacrosse team will head to in-state foe William & Mary for a Wednesday (March 14) contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., and live statistics can be accessed at VirginiaSports.com. William & Mary will provide a live webcast that requires a paid subscription.

The Cavaliers (3-3, 0-2 ACC) are coming off of a 14-9 loss to No. 2 North Carolina on Saturday (March 10) at Klöckner Stadium. A trio of Cavaliers – Josie Owen (Gibson Island, Md.), Ainsley Baker (Corning, N.Y.) and Liza Blue (Butler, Md.) – lead the squad with 10 goals apiece.

Owen, a senior attacker, has tallied 15 assists this season in addition to her 10 goals. Those totals rank her first in the conference and ninth in the nation in assists per game (2.5) and first in the conference in points per game (4.17).

The Cavaliers are ranked No. 10 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll and No. 11 in the deBeer Media Poll.

Defensively, goalkeeper Kim Kolarik (Riva, Md.) has started all six games between the pipes for UVa. She has a 10.83 goals-against average and ranks first in the ACC in ground balls per game (3.5) and second in the ACC in saves per game (7.83).

The Tribe (2-4, 0-0 CAA) is coming off of a 19-7 loss at top-ranked Northwestern on Saturday (March 10), but defeated ACC opponent Virginia Tech, 9-6, in Blacksburg, Va., on Feb. 25.

Individually, sophomore Taelor Salmon leads the team with 15 goals and ranks fourth in the conference with 2.5 goals per game. Senior Maggie Anderson also ranks among the league’s top five in assists per game (1.17) and points per game (3.0). Freshman goalie Lucy Ferguson ranks third in the league with 9.17 saves per game.

Virginia leads the all-time series with William & Mary, 28-17-1. Last season in Charlottesville, UVa claimed a 14-13 victory after trailing by as many as seven goals. Owen scored the game-winner off an assist by Julie Gardner (Severna Park, Md.) with 2:46 on the clock and UVa held on for the victory.

Following Wednesday’s game, UVa heads to Princeton, N.J., to take on the Tigers on Saturday (March 17). Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
