Kim Kolarik Earns ACC Player of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia junior goalkeeper Kim Kolarik (Riva, Md.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced on Tuesday (March 20).

Kolarik held Cavalier opponents to 12 goals over two games on the week. In Virginia’s victory at William and Mary on March 14, Kolarik and the UVa defense held the Tribe to three goals. She made eight saves on 14 shots and held William and Mary to its lowest offensive output since the 2004 season (three goals).

Kolarik then kept the Cavaliers close at No. 16 Princeton, collecting three ground balls while allowing single-digit goals (nine) on 21 shots.

Virginia becomes the first Cavalier to earn ACC Player of the Week honors twice in one season since Brittany Kalkstein earned repeat distinction during the 2010 season.

Virginia hosts James Madison on Wednesday (March 21) at Klöckner Stadium at 7 p.m.
