Awendaw, SC – The 24th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team shot 1-over 289 and dropped back to eighth place after the second round of play at the Hootie @ Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, S.C. The Cavaliers shot 1-under 287 during Sunday’s opening round for a two-day total of even par 576.

Auburn leads the 15-team field at 560 followed by Kentucky and Texas A&M a 567.

Virginia senior Ben Kohles shot 2-over 74 and is in 18th place after 36 holes at even par 144. Denny McCarthy is one shot behind him in 25th position after shooting 72 Monday.

Ben Rusch had the team’s best score during the second round, carding a 1-under 71. He is in 31st place, tied with teammate Ji Soo Park, who shot 77. Bruce Woodall is 43rd overall at 148 including a second round score of 72.

Texas A&M’s Cameron Peck leads the tournament by one shot at 7-under 137.
