GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior attacker Josie Owen (Gibson Island, Md.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday (March 27) after leading Virginia to two victories, including an upset on the road of sixth-ranked Duke, last week.

Owen totaled eight goals, four assists, six ground balls and eight draw controls in two victories vs. James Madison (13-9, March 21) and at No. 6 Duke (14-12, March 24).

In the victory over James Madison, Owen set a career high with six goals and added an assist. Owen was a part of five of Virginia’s nine second-half goals at Duke, including an assist on the game-winner.

It is the first ACC Player of the Week honor of Owen’s career. She joins Cavaliers Ainsley Baker (Offensive, Feb. 21) and Kim Kolarik (Defensive, Feb. 27 and March 20) as honorees this season.

Virginia now turns its attention to three home games – vs. Old Dominion on Wednesday (March 28), vs. Boston College on Saturday (March 31) and vs. Harvard on Monday (April 2). The Cavaliers’ match vs. the Eagles will be Senior Day and the senior class of Owen, Ainsley Baker (Corning, N.Y.), Charlie Finnigan (Twickenham, Middlesex, England), Julie Gardner (Severna Park, Md.) and Anne Taylor (Alexandria, Va.) will be honored prior to the game.
