Charlottesville, VA – The Virginia football team will hold an open practice from 3-5 p.m. at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Va. on Saturday, April 7.

The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Virginia football t-shirt. Promotional tables will be setup inside the stadium’s entrance and each fan will receive a roster/autograph card and have an opportunity to enter to win raffle prizes. Prizes include: a pair of season tickets, tickets for UVa individual home games, and a Cavalier helmet and football signed by head coach Mike London.

The stadium’s gates open at 2 p.m. and activities for youth, including inflatable games, a face-painter and a balloon artist, will be set-up inside the stadium’s main gate. Following the practice, there will be an autograph session with Virginia’s players. The event will conclude at approximately 5:15 p.m. Concession will be available from Chick-fil-A and Domino’s Pizza during the practice.

There will be a canned food drive to benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank in conjunction with the practice.

Sports Backers Stadium is located at 100 Avenue of Champions in Richmond (the zip code is 23230). Parking at Sports Backers Stadium for the practice is free. Fans should be advised VCU hosts a baseball game at the Diamond (adjacent to Sports Backers Stadium and parking is shared) starting at 3 p.m. As a result, fans attending the Virginia football practice are encouraged to utilize the two parking lot entrances off Robin Hood and Hermitage Roads instead of those off the Boulevard.

The 2012 Virginia football team began its spring practice period on Monday, March 19. The annual Orange-Blue Spring Scrimmage is Saturday, April 14 at Scott Stadium. The gates at Scott Stadium open at noon and the scrimmage will begin at 2 p.m.
