Tampa, FL – The 18th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team completed the first day of play at the Gary Koch Invitational in third place. The Cavaliers recorded rounds of 291 and 286 for a 36-hole total of 1-over 577. North Florida leads the 15-team field at 17-under 559.

Freshman Ji Soo Park led the Cavaliers by finishing in ninth place at 2-under 142. Park had rounds of 72 and 70. Denny McCarthy was one shot behind him in 15th place. He shot 73 and 70. Ben Kohles is in 17th place at 145. He posted rounds of 71 and 74.

UVa’s Bruce Woodwall enters the final round in 32nd place at 148. He shot 76 and 72. Ben Rusch is 48th at 151 after posting scores of 75 and 76.

North Florida’s Joey Petronio leads the competition for medalist honors at 6-under 138.
