CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior women’s tennis player Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) advanced to the second round of the Boyd Tinsley Women’s Clay Court Classic, a USTA Pro Circuit $50,000 Challenger held at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. Hardenbergh, who received a wild card entry, downed world No. 211 Johanna Konta of Australia 6-4, 6-3 in a first round match Wednesday.

Hardenbergh will meet eighth-seeded Michelle Larcher de Brito of Portugal, the world No. 146, in the second round. Larcher de Brito has been ranked as high as No. 76 in the world, following her run to the third round of the 2009 French Open.

The tournament runs through Sunday at the Boar’s Head Sports Club and admission is free.
