Collins Set for Nationwide Debut

Charlottesville, VA – Former Virginia men’s golf standout Will Collins (Salisbury, N.C.) will make his debut on the Nationwide Tour this week at the Stadion Classic in Athens, Ga. Collins shot 6-under 66 to place third at the tournaments’ open qualifier at The Georgia Club in Athens on Monday to earn a spot into the field. He had seven birdies and one bogey during his qualifying round.

The Stadion Classic is held at the University of Georgia Golf Course. The event runs May 3-6. The purse for the tournament is $550,000 with the winner taking home $99,000.

Collins played in all 13 matches during his senior season in 2011. He led UVa with a 14th-place finish at the NCAA East Regional. He was second on the team with a 72.84 stroke average and earned All-East Region honors by the Golf Coaches Association of America. He was an All-ACC selection in 2010.
