CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The second-ranked Virginia rowing team travels north to Camden, N.J., for the Eastern Women’s Sprints on Cooper River Sunday (May 13). The first race begins at 8:00 a.m.

The field features four conference champions, including UVa (ACC), Bucknell (Patriot League), Northeastern (CAA) and Rhode Island (Atlantic 10). The Cavaliers will also compete against crews from Boston College, Boston University, Buffalo, George Washington, Holy Cross, Navy, M.I.T., and UMass.

Boats from each school will compete in four divisions – first, second and third Varsity Eight and Varsity Four. Each division will have two heats, with the top three boats from each heat advancing to the grand finals, which will be held Sunday afternoon.

The Cavaliers’ second Varsity Four and Novice Eight do not have a preliminary heat and will compete in a single final Sunday afternoon.

Last time out, Virginia competed against Michigan and Ohio State on April 28 in Columbus, Ohio. The first Varsity Eight defeated both the Buckeyes and the previously unbeaten Wolverines, while the first Varsity Four also picked up wins over the Big 10 foes.
