GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Virginia women’s lacrosse team placed six Cavaliers on the 2012 All-ACC Academic Women’s Lacrosse Team, as announced by the league office Wednesday. Senior Josie Owen is making her fourth-straight appearance on the team, while junior Megan Dunleavy is being honored for the second time. Senior Ainsley Baker, sophomore Liza Blue, and freshmen Daniela Eppler and Sloan Warren are first-time honorees.

Owen wrapped up her career as an IWLCA All-American and All-ACC honoree in 2012, the first accolades of her career by each outlet. The Tewaaraton Trophy nominee led UVa with 42 goals, 35 assists and 77 points. She also led the Cavaliers with 46 draw controls and caused 10 turnovers.

Dunleavy, a defenseman, started all 19 games for the Cavaliers and was No. 2 on the squad with 11 caused turnovers. She also picked up 10 ground balls and added five draw controls.

Baker started all 19 games and was No. 4 on the team with 25 goals. Blue started 16 of the 19 games she appeared in during her first season on Grounds. The attackman scored 17 goals and dished out two assists, while posting 20 draw controls during her sophomore campaign. Eppler started all 19 games and was No. 2 on the team with 32 draw controls. Warren started 11-of-17 games and was No. 3 on the squad with 26 goals and had 12 assists for 38 points, which ranked second on the team.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
