Complete Draws with times

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s tennis program will open its 2012 fall schedule this week as it hosts the UVa Fall Classic. The 10-team event will run Friday-Sunday at the Snyder Tennis Center with play beginning each day at 9 a.m.

This year nine teams will join the host Cavaliers in the three-day individual tournament. Furman, Marshall, UNC Greensboro, Old Dominion, South Carolina, VCU, Wake Forest, William & Mary and Winthrop will all send players to Charlottesville for the event.

The tournament will consist of 16-player singles draws and 16-team doubles draws. Friday’s schedule consists of one round of doubles followed by two rounds of singles. Saturday will feature two rounds of doubles followed by one round of singles. Sunday’s play will be the final round of doubles followed by the final round of singles.

The Cavaliers have five singles players and two doubles teams that received preseason ITA national rankings. No. 77 Li Xi (Kunming, China), No. 95 Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.), No. 99 Maria Fuccillo (Rockville, Md.) and No. 103 Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) are the veterans that are ranked, while freshman Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) is the No. 4 ranked newcomer nationally. In doubles, the team of Tomljanovic/Vierra opens the season at No. 20 and Xi teams with freshman Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) at No. 41.

Admission for the UVa Fall Classic is free. Fans attending the tournament can park for free at the Culbreth Garage.
