Lewellen Earns Third Consecutive LPGA Regional Coach of the Year Award

Charlottesville, Va. – DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) membership announced today Virginia head women’s golf coach Kim Lewellen is its Northeast Section Coach of the Year. It marks the third consecutive year she has been honored by the organization as a regional coach of the year.

Last year she was also tabbed the LPGA national college coach of the year.

In 2012 Lewellen led Virginia to its second consecutive fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. The Cavaliers had two players, Portland Rosen and Brittany Altomare, earn All-America accolades. It marked the first time in the program’s history multiple players earned the postseason honor.

Lewellen is entering her sixth year at Virginia. Her teams have placed in the top 13 of the NCAA Championships during each of her previous five seasons.

In addition to its coach of the year award, the The LPGA T&CP selects award winners for teacher and professional of the year for its five sections — Central, Midwest, Northeast, Southeast and Western.

The LPGA T&CP Executive Committee will select the overall national award winner in each category from among the section award winners. The national winners will be announced in the coming weeks.

The LPGA Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) membership, founded in 1959, boasts the largest membership of women golf professionals in the world. LPGA T&CP members are certified as golf instructors, coaches and business managers through a comprehensive curriculum designed to meet the changing needs of the golfing public.
